First Hedgehog of 2008
04/03/2008 by nigel.
The early hours of this morning saw the first hedgehog of 2008. It visited the hog feed station and one of the Hog boxes. I have placed some straw in the boxes and put some food out in the feeding station…
Fingers crossed the Hogs will return tonight.
The First Hog videos can be seen on the video pages of the site..
Welcome back Hogs..

New Hog House
17/09/2007 by nigel.
I have built a new Hog House at the bottom of the garden complete with IR Cam. It is mostly built from bits and pieces that were lying around the garden or garage (breeze blocks, edging, wood).
Just waiting for our first visitor…

The original Hog Box has a full time resident now.. With any luck he / she will chose to hibernate here.

I have activated the sound in the Hog box, this can be heard on the camstreams feed. This feed normaly shows the Bird Table in the daytime and the Hog Feeding area at night but always streams the sound from the Hog Box.
You can normally hear the hog snoring, grunting and the odd squeak .
You can hear a recording HERE.

New Resident
27/05/2007 by nigel.
Ok this morning we woke up to find that we have our first resident in the Hog Box. He / She has been fidgeting around all day.
We have some nice captures of the Hog having a good Yawn.

We have also discovered that when this Hog settled down in the Box last night two others were having a good barge about over the food outside. This was a surprise to us as we thought we only ever had two visitors.

I will have to create some videos and place them on the site.

Hog Box
25/05/2007 by nigel.
So I decided to purchase a Hedgehog House, made a few modifications and fitted an IR camera. Placed the box in a quite location of the garden where nobody ever goes (i think there’s on of those in every garden where all the junk gets stored) and on the second night (last night) the Hog briefly visited the box. You can watch the box live using the following link live feeds link on the home page.

Hogs
25/05/2007 by nigel.
Around the beginning of May we noticed that the security light in the back garden was going on and off a lot. I decided to wait in the conservatory to see if i could spot the cause. And then we saw them! Yes two hedgehogs came trumbling across the patio and down into the garden. So that night we put out some cat food to see if we could entice them into have a snack. We then hid in the conservatory and waited, they came back up the garden and wiped the plate clean. The following day we picked up some hedgehog food from the local garden centre and from that day onwards our two visitors have turned up every night.
I then decided to set up an infra-red camera next to the feeding area so that we could observe them without disturbing with them, footage and a live feed can be seen on the cam page of this site.
