New Camera Locations
29/07/2007 by nigel.
Ok I decided to have a move around with the cams yesterday. With the amount of rain we have been having lately everything has been getting soaked so I decided to place the cams in some of the drier areas of the garden.
The hog box is in secluded reasonably dry area so I decided to move the hog cam near to this.
The hogs seem to find it without a problem in-fact on the first night in the new area there was a lot of hog activity.
Again on the same night the fox showed up and ate the hog food. So tonight I have fixed the roving can just outside the hog feeding area and place a bowl of food there for the fox.
The hogs do not seem to be worried about the fox they just curl up, wait and carry on eating after the fox has gone. Hmmmm if only humans could live in such harmony.
The rain has been activating the cams leading to a lot of false captures so I have placed the cams in such a way that I’m hoping they won’t get activated by the rain so much.

Rain Rain Rain
09/07/2007 by nigel.
Well its been constantly raining here for what seems weeks.. I have had to move the hog feeding area from its original position as it was getting flooded, the hogs don’t seem to mind.
The Hog Box still appears to be quite active.. no permanent resident yet.
The Fox still visits now and then, I have put some extra food (dog type) out for the Fox so that he doesn’t take the Hog food…. Expensive this wildlife malarkey… :-)
The birds have discovered the hog food and help themselves in the mornings making more of a mess than the hogs.
The magpies have taken to walking along the wall and peeking into the conservatory window at times jumping onto the window seal.
I have some extra cameras to replace the low quality IR cameras. These are bullet cameras without IR so I need to make some IR illuminators to enable their use at night.
Ok that’s it for now… till next time.
